Notifying Web Masters of Penalties via Sitemaps

Google is now going to be notifying some web masters / site owners about penalties on their sites through the webmaster console in Google Sitemaps. This feature will not be available to everyone. Probably only to the worst offenders.

We may use the summary page to tell you if a site has violated the webmaster guidelines so you can correct the problems and request reinclusion.

The Sitemaps crew has also revamped the Sitemaps user interface, based on user feedback. If you haven’t visited lately, you should. Ther is a lot of helpful information.
