Google News Out of Beta

Google News has made the move out of beta. I have been using the service for a couple of months now to keep track of tech news. Here is what my Google News View looks like.

I would like to know exactly what qualifies a story to be listed in Google News. I heard that you could get a story into Google News via press release. Well, I tried that, and had no luck. Maybe I didn’t pay enough money. Over the past 2 months, I have seen a stories from SearchEngineWatch.com pop up under the ‘SEO’ news from time to time. Maybe Google considers them to be an authority site? Any other ideas?
