Searchme. Visual Search Done Right

I literally Stumbled Upon a new (to me) search engine today. It’s called Searchme. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the cover flow style navigation, very similar to iTunes. See the image below.

The first thing I searched for was my name. This is sort of my initial quality test for new search engines. I just think that my name is unique enough that I should get relevant results. I was actually impressed with the results. Not just impressed, but flattered. All of the top search results that came up were pretty much spot on.

Next, I tried the image search. The image results all seemed to come from flickr, but they were extremely relevant. More so than any other search engine I’ve tried. More image sources would be nice, but searchme the results were pretty much all spot on. More than I can say for Google or Yahoo.

Searchme also searches videos. Results all seem to be from youtube (would be nice to see vids from more sites), but I really cant complain, because the results were just so good.

Searchme is definitely worth a look, and it has earned a spot in my Firefox search selections.

    Omg, that is really cool
It’s also easier to see before clicking each link if it’s what you’re looking for too

    Thanks a lot Badi :)
