I have recently been thinking about making a domain search tool just like the InstantDomainSearch.com tool that I reviewed here a few months back. I thought, InstantDomainSearch is good, but I bet I could improve on it. Add the ability to search for more than just com, net, and org. I could add more options for registrars, instead of just 5. Finally I was thinking I could probably do a much better job on the design of the new tool.

Well it looks like I’ve missed the boat on this one, and PCNames.com Domain Name Search beat me to it.

PCNames.com Domain Search is a new tool that really allows you to use spontaneity and lots of creativity when searching for a domain name. It’s really a cool app. PCNames.com is built using AJAX. This makes for much faster searching for that perfect domain name. Just start typing and you instantly (it’s very fast) get results for .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz., and .us top level domains.

Once you find the perfect domain name, you can then click the “Select” button next to it, and PCNames.com gives you a choice of 9 hosting companies: Yahoo, GoDady, 1and1, Register.com, NetSol, NetFirms, Moniker, LunarPages, and Hostgator.

New domain names are harder than ever to find these days, but domain searches like PCnames.com give you a fighting chance at actually coming up with something cool. It’s a keeper. Try it out.
