I have decided that I am going to hold my own SEO contest.
I don’t have any cash to give away, but I do have an iBook G3 700 MHz with 768 MB of memory, a 20 GB hard drive, combo (read/write) drive, and an airport. It is not new by any means, but it works.
Prizes
note: prizes are subject to change (don’t worry, they can only get better) depending on sponsors
? 1st Place: The first place winner gets my 700 MHz iBook (I can only pay shipping up to $40).
? 2nd Place: 1 Year of hosting ( 1&1 Home package)
Rules:
? Link to webguerrilla.com, v7n.com, and mattcutts.com with a 12 pt arial font bolded. Just kidding. There are No linking requirements.
? The domiain must be new (registerd after December 25, 2005) to be eligible.
? One prize per person
? One prize per domain
? Any tld is okay.
? All entries must have a username (email address) clearly posted somewhere on the page (If you are worried about spam, feel free to register a new email address or use [at] instead of @)
? Only one username must exist on each page entered
? White Hats, Black Hats, Green hats, Tinfoil Hats… All kinds of SEOs are welcome.
? You may enter as many sites as you want, but you must include your user name (email address)
Choosing the Winners
? The winners will be chosen from Google.com only.
? SafeSearch Filtering will be OFF
? 1st Place must rank #1 in Google.com for the keyword phrase without quotation marks.
? The winners must hold the winning position in most Google Data Centers.
The Contest Begins Tonight at Midnight GMT - 5
? The keyword phrase will be announced tonight at midnight GMT -5 at the seologs.com home page
? The winner will be chosen on Friday, March 3rd 2006.
Google has changed a lot in the past year, so hopefully with this and the other contests going on, we will all be able to learn something useful from this experience.
Good luck!
Dates and Rules are subject to change if necessary (just in case of another jagger happens in march). seologs.com will make the final decision of the winners of the SEO contest.

If you ever do another contest, make a contest the covers all three search engines. Who ever ends up with the least number of points wins. Points being the positions in the search engines combined (Try for three points, 1st place on all three search engines.)

Thats a good idea. A little more complicated, but good. Where were you when I was coming up with the rules?
I chose to do only Gogle because it is the hardes to rank on, and it brings in the most traffic.

Actually, I did away with the nofollow on actual links in the comments. The username links do contain the nofollow attribute though.
