New Features in Google Sitemaps

Google sitemap now shows your “Average top position” in the serps along with the “Top search queries” and the “Top search query clicks”.
They have also added a feature that allows you to download each of these lists as a cvs file.
Somthing cool that I just noticed though, is that if you go to “Stats” - > “Page status”, they show words that they have found in links to your site. I don’t think this is a new feature (I wouldn’t know since I really haven’t looked at it in a while), but I though it was interesting. There is also an option to export as cvs for this list as well.

Remember. You don’t have to submit a sitemap to get these stats. Google already has them. All you need to do is create a sitemaps account, and verify your site. For verification, you have to upload a file to your site containing a specific code from Google.

Just a little clarity. To verify your account all you do is upload a blank html file that has a specific name. You aren’t sending any special information or anything. The whole thing takes about 2 minutes and is definately worth the extra little insites to your site.

Thanks for clarifying that Rand. It’s been a while since I verified a site in my sitemaps account.
