Google Analytics: Giving Away Urchin Free

It has been some time since Google acquired Urchin web analytics. The super detailed web analytics software that came in two flavors, a stand alone, heavy duty application that you could run on your computer, and a much simpler web based app that only required that you drop a small bit of javascript into each page you wanted to track.

For a while, it seemed like Google wasn’t doing anyting with the products, but now when yo go to the Urchin page, it has been re-branded as Google Analytics. It looks as if the heavy duty stand alone app is gone, but they have now made the $199 /month version completely FREE.

I haven’t had the chance to try it, because when I try to sign in, it says that they are doing maintenance. I will give a review as soon as I can get it set up.
