Wordpress Link Building Plugin: Blog This Post
- Posted by B Jones on August 10th, 2007 - Comment on this Post »
This is a basic wordpress plugin that makes it easier for visitors to link to your posts.
It adds a small button that when clicked.

Grabs a small snipped of your post, including the title, and a bit of the first paragraph.

To install, just:
1) unzip
2) upload the whole blogit folder to your wordpress plugins directory
3) Activate the plugin in your wp control panel
And feel free to leave feedback or questions.

Good plugin. I will use it on my website as well. But can you tell in anyway if people use it? I am curious about this.

@Althaf:
Are you sure that you uploaded the whole blogit folder? That contains the image.
@John:
I have no way of telling who uses this plugin. Unless they post a comment

You can tell who is linking to you by checking your backlinks. Granted, it’s not like this method puts a list of sites that link to you from this plugin in a database, but I think most seo type people are checking their backlinks regularly anyway.

Cool but it’s only showing on the post’s permalink page, not any other time the post shows up (as with a search).

Hi, I’ve installed the plugin and it works great, thank you! But I have a question as to why it can’t be seen unless the actual post is clicked on? Can it appear on all posts on the home page?

Susan,
I’m sure it could be done, but I’d have to look into that a little bit more.

Very cool plugin and great way to get backlinks….at least I think so
I agree with Susan’s comment on 11/27/2007, it’d be of real benefit if it worked on all pages….of course, free almost always dictates the amount of work one will invest.
Quick question or food for thought.
If you’re trying to create some activity on your blog…do you think this might distract users from posting comments since it’s so easy to just click the button.
Also…your plugin is much easier than using a trackback, but again, the trackback….at least in spirit requires the user to make some sort of comment about your blog with a link back to your blog in the blog post
I suppose in the long run it won’t matter. Those with a purpose in mind will either comment or trackback. Those just interested in some quick cheap content can use your plugin….I know I will make occaisonal use when I see it.
Thanks again….Scott
Cheap plug…if anyone needs website graphics drop me a line http://www.spGraphic.com

Hey Scott.
You bring up a valid point. My comments are sort of far down after the end of each post, and maybe that does have an effect on whether or not visitors comment after reading.
Definitely something to consider. As for the plugin image, I don’t think it would distract too much.
And as for trackbacks, I really don’t think they are too valuable for discussion anyway.

Cool plugin. I placed it on my blog… It would be nice to have a config to define number of chars to extract into paragraph excerpt or something like that…
