Christmas Is Coming

I don’t know how it happened, but the time has flown by, and I leave tomorrow to visit family for Christmas. My wife and I plan to be away from home for 3 weeks, but unfortunately, I only have about 8 days of vacation time left, so I’ll be working quite a bit over the break, on my day job, and my many side projects.
As far as gifts go, other than getting white listed by Google for all of my sites :), I plan to treat myself to a smart phone of some sort. I was really hoping that the Apple phone would be out by now, so I could at least compare the features with the existing models, but who knows when that will happen.
There’s a pretty cool Christmas Wishlist to Google over at Pandia. It’s called “15 features and improvements Pandia wants from Google this Xmas”, and there are definitely some good requests there. 2 that I really agree with are #7: Update the PageRank bar on the Google Toolbar more frequently and #8 Give us real numbers (talking about backlink numbers using the link: operator.
In response to #7, Matt Cutts via his blog responded “on #7, we slowed down external PageRank updates because if you do them more often than every 3-4 months, SEOs pay too much attention to the PageRank bar, and not enough to the over 100 other factors that go into our scoring.”
Ok, thats fine, but what about #8? What reason could Google possibly have for not showing all backlinks? Who kows, but I thought it was pretty cool that Matt was able to give Pandia their #16 request right away. “A Google Travel Mug”
