SEOlogs Was Hacked

I woke up this morning to a nice surprise.
(Message edited for language and lack of positivity)

I guess this is what happens when you don’t upgrade your Wordpress install. I currently have Wordpress 2.1 installed, and the current version is 2.3.
It’s pretty evident these guys weren’t SEOs b/c they didn’t even add a live link back to the url they left. Also, they obviously don’t know anything about making money either, because they didn’t even use the opportunity to make some money.
One thing I can give them credit for is that this does have some shock / viral value. They probably could have picked a more popular blog, but whatever.
I’m going to upgrade my wordpress to 2.3, but I’d still like to know how they did it.

i was shocked by this, too.
i’ve learned about your website just yesterday, because of your reverse ip tool. and then later that evening, when i got back to use it again, i found that “hacked…” message.
so what was their motive?

I really don’t know what the motive was. I suppose they just did it because they could. I’m not 100% sure, but I think it was because I’m running an older version of wordpress. I have my FTP logs, but haven’t had time to go over them yet.

This guys are simple scriptkiddies. They have no skills and knowledge. I think they just used a script which use security bugs of wordpress.
Take a look at the page of them. Looks like they are just amateurs.
Stupid scriptkiddies

Man…Badi. What do you do when something like this happens, how do you fix it?
I just want to make sure I’ll be prepared if it happens to me.
Thanks.
