Finally Finished my Master’s degree

As of 2 days ago, I am officially finished with my Master’s degree. It has been just under 2 years. I completed The Master of Science in Internet Engineering (MSIE) program at Marlboro College Graduate Center in Brattleboro, VT.

This may come off as an advertisement for the school, but I really think it is great. I can’t speak for the other programs, but the MSIE program was top notch. It covers everything from web site usability to database design and implementation to Java and JSP ( or C# and .net … whichever you choose), and a lot more.

The program can be finished in 1 year, but I took a bit longer working on my capstone project (equivalent to a thesis), which is to design and make a web application using all of the skills described above. Mine was a Java based application built using STRUTS, SPRING, and Hibernate. It utilized a lot of XML and XSLT.

Though I just studied Java in the program, that knowledge has opened the door to many other programming languages. Since starting the program, I am now very comfortable using Java, Perl, Python, PHP, and Javascript.

If anyone has any questions about the school or programs, ask away, I’ll be happy to answer.
