Google Featured on ABC NEWS

ABC NEWS featured a story about Google today on the national evening news. The piece featured Sergey Brin, Larry Page, and a few random Google Employees.
They touched on a few different topics including all of the information about its users that Google collects and how we are basically trusting them not to be “evil” with it, but they didn’t even talk about the subpoena for google records. I don’t know what’s up with that. The National security issues with Google Maps was briefly discussed. Sergy and Larry said they were perfectly willing to cooperate with security agencies.
All in all though, it was basically a story about how fluffy and cool it is to work at Google. Free candy, volleyball courts, 3 free meals per day, and all the other perks make working at Google sound more like play than work.
I was waiting for an appearance by Matt Cutts to talk about spam, but no such luck.
They did report that Google is adding 10 to 20 workers per day, so if I ever move to the west coast, I might give it a shot.

Google sounds like my old company where the CEO would constantly brag that it was a great place to work and that Wall Street can’t tell us what to do. That was until profits (which were quite healthy) didn’t quite meet upper management’s ludicrous forecasts and the stock price tanked. Then the boss cut all the nice stuff, fired 10% (did I say fired? I mean instituted a reduction in force) and went on local tv saying that we’re sending a message to Wall Street that “we” can make the tough decisions.
But I’m sure Google will be different! Ha Ha!
