On Your Marks: More SEO Contest Madness
- Posted by Badi Jones on January 12th, 2006 - Comment on this Post »
Just a quick reminder. The v7n contest is going to be starting in a few days, on Jan 15th. The only rule is to link to v7n. Any site can enter, so get ready. It should be interesting to watch the results from this contest along with our SEO contest. Im guessing with the $4k prize, there will be a lot of entries.

LOL!! I think ‘a lot of entries’ is an understatement!!! Combine the other prizes and you got over $9,000 in total prizes if John changes the rules to be able to enter both versions!!!!
Gah!!! An SEO newbie is #1 in this contest!!!!! In her own words….it was pure luck!!!!

Pure luck? Yeah right. Pure luck and at least 336 Backlinks.
I am surprised that bluesingsky.com is doing so well with only 2 backlinks.
Backlinks
URL – Total – Google/AOL –HotBot – MSN – Yahoo!/FAST/AltaVista
#1 www . redscowl . com – 1,011 – 0- 0 – 675- 336
#2 www . bluesingsky . com - 2 – 0 – 0 - 2 – 0
#3 www . redscowl-bluesingsky . net – 313 – 0 – 0 – 190 – 123
#4 www . redscowl-bluesingsky . org – 9 – 0 – 0 - 7 – 2

Oh my, it looks like it changed! It was bluesingsky.com that said it was pure luck, and they got two links! Look at

>>>My secret for getting to no.1 for redscowl bluesingsky is simple LUCK and nothing more. I wasnt even going to bother getting it indexed after i had been working on the design and integration.
Looks like having a small domain name helps!!! *Runs off to GoDaddy.*

Im not sure about that. However there are no rules other than the new domain rule, so however he / she did it is fair game.
With that said, I think there are some craz tricks involved.
